Women’s Division recognises women as the pillar of the Jewish family and the educators of the next generation, therefore ensuring Jewish continuity. This strength is harnessed globally through 40 Women’s Campaigns in 20 countries, demonstrating a common goal in the love and support For the People of Israel.
The aim of UIA's Women’s Division is to involve Jewish women as active participants in the fulfillment of the needs of new Olim. This includes their Immigration and Absorption, raising funds to support the basic needs of housing, health and education - ultimately strengthening the State of Israel and its people.
Domestic violence in the Ethiopian-Israeli community is a growing concern following the tragic deaths of several women at the hands of their husbands. In 2021, UIA NSW Women's Division will support Family Matters, a family wellness program conducted during the absorption process that works to prevent domestic violence amongst Ethiopian olim struggling to adapt to modern gender and societal norms in Israel.
Contrary to the situation in Ethiopia, Ethiopian women in Israel enjoy full equality. With this change in the family hierarchy, the phenomenon of domestic violence has become a central concern in the integration of the Ethiopian immigrants.
UIA seeks your generous support to expand the Family Matters program, which aims to prevent domestic violence situations within the Ethiopian family unit, reduce instances of familial violence and promote constructive communication between Ethiopian family members. The program operates only once there are available funds. With a limited number of groups available, your generous donation will provide the necessary funds to run the program at the suitable Absorption Centres.
