The Goodridge family took time out of their personal vacation for a fulfilling and stimulating day with the UIA. They began the day with a visit to the Ayalim Student Village at Moshav Yechini. They learnt about the Ayalim program and met two lovely young people, Cori and Avia, who are volunteering at the village for a year before they begin their army service. They then travelled on the family minibus to a lookout point in Sderot, overlooking the Gaza Strip, and discussed the challenges facing the residents of the area. Following this they visited a special protected playground near the Gaza border, which allows children to play freely and safely.
Their final stop was the local Sderot Police Station where they saw examples of rockets and missiles that have been collected after having fallen in the area. They saw many Portable Protective Shelters that were donated by UIA NSW during Operation Protective Edge.
A special thank you to the Goodridge Family for taking the time to add this UIA day to their trip.
