FAQ - United Israel Appeal

Section Menu

Are donations tax deductible?

Yes! The United Israel Appeal Relief Fund Limited (ABN 75 071 207 094) is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as an Item 1 deductible gift recipient. This means donations of $2 and over to the United Israel Appeal Relief Fund Limited are tax deductible.

Where does the money go?

Funds raised are directed to a range of different projects that the State of Israel deems are of a ‘national priority’. These includes supporting aliyah and absorption, services and supports for immigrants, helping youth-at-risk, programs to close educational gaps, renovation of bomb shelters and ensuring that Holocaust survivors are able to live the rest of their lives in peace and security. We create and sponsor a range of programs which are designed to combat the root causes of social foundering and ensure that current and future generations are improved. Many of these programs, such as our Absorption Centres, Youth Villages or Ayalim, are about strengthening the community at large and making the country a better place for Israelis both young and old. How much goes to Israel?

UIA relies heavily of the dedication of its volunteers to keep its operating costs at a minimum to ensure that more funds are directed to Israel. If you are interested in volunteering your time to the UIA, please contact your State office or simply click here to sign up.

Are ticket costs for events tax deductible?

As ticket costs are a charge and not a donation, they are not considered tax deductible.

How do I get involved?

We love that you want to get involved! The best way to get involved is to contact your State office or click here and sign up.

Do you also give money to local Jewish needs / projects?

As one of the largest fundraising organisations for the State of Israel, we support projects that are based in Israel. However, from time to time we are approached by different communal organisation for financial support. We carefully consider all proposals on a case by case basis and assess whether they align with the goals and values of the UIA and how a particular partnership can benefit us.

Can I get some information on Missions and trips to Israel?

Sure! UIA runs a range of different Missions to Israel at different times of the year and for different groups. Simply contact your State office or click here to learn all about the different missions that we run.

How do I leave a bequest to the UIA?
